China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), which was first held in 1999, has developed into the largest and the most influential scientific and technological fair in China. It is renowned as "the No.1 Technology Show in China" after over two decades of growth.
Numerous smart equipment and scientific outcomes first made their debut at CHTF before being put into mass application, such as smart phones, the internet of things, wearable devices, and cloud computing.
Domestic scientific companies, such as Sinocare, Tencent, Netac Technology Co Ltd, Mindray, and Han's Laser, have won their opportunities for further development during CHTF as many influential companies and well-known investors attend to see the latest products and technologies.
In addition, hundreds of projects from the 863 Program, Spark Program, Torch Program, and other national key scientific and technological research projects have realized industrialization and successfully entered the global market with the help of CHTF, such as transgenic cotton and ground-effect vehicles.
During the past 21 years, CHTF has witnessed China's rapid development in areas spanning energy conservation and environmental protection, the new generation of information technology, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, as well as new energy vehicles.
With the expansion of CHTF's scale, the event has played an important role in the communication, as well as the economic and technological cooperation among different countries and regions. It has been recognized as a significant platform for entrepreneurs from home and abroad to showcase, communicate, and seek cooperation with each other.
A total of 10,020 hi-tech projects were showcased during CHTF 2018 and 49 delegations from 46 countries and regions participated in the event, along with 592,000 visitors from 102 countries and regions. Seventy distinguished guests, including foreign minister-level officials and Nobel Prize winners, attended the event.
One highlight of this year's CHTF is a special exhibition area to showcase the achievements in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Forums will also be held to promote the further development of the Greater Bay Area.
