A number of 5G technologies have made their debut at the ongoing China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) in Shenzhen as the year 2019 marks the start of the commercial application of 5G.
Currently, 5G has been applied to various areas in China spanning agriculture, medicine, education and pension services.
The tomato greenhouses in Sichuan's Meishan, integrating 5G and artificial intelligence, have achieved a high production rate, three times the yield of traditional methods. Also, the greenhouses can reduce 60 to 80 percent of the water usage along with 40 percent of carbon emissions.
A 5G remote ultrasonic diagnosis and treatment project co-built by China Unicom, Shenzhen Wisonic Medical Technology Co Ltd, and Peking University Shenzhen Hospital has been displayed during the fair.
Grassroots doctors can start remote consultations with doctors from 3A-grade hospitals, the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals, with portable color ultrasounds.
