CHTF boosts Greater Bay Area innovation

The China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), held from Nov 13 to 17 in Shenzhen, has highlighted technological innovation, which is also an important element in building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and turning Shenzhen into a demonstration pilot zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics.

 

Themed around Invigorating the Greater Bay Area through Opening-up and Innovation, this year's fair has attracted more than 3,300 exhibitors from home and abroad, as well as over 10,000 projects in various areas spanning 5G, the internet of things, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and flexible display.

 

5G has always been a hot issue in every year's hi-tech fair and the 2019 edition has showcased richer and more mature applications of 5G in areas such as medicine, smart homes, manufacturing and smart cities. Companies including China Mobile, China Unicom, Huawei, ZTE and China Communication Technology Co Ltd have displayed their latest achievements in 5G technology.

 

"In previous years, the application of 5G was mainly in interactive game needs such as virtual reality, yet we are seeing more 5G applications in areas such as smart cities, remote medicine treatment, education as well as smart homes this year," said Zhou Yi, vice general manager of Telesource Co Ltd, a Shenzhen-based company founded in April 2012 which is making great progress in the application of IoT and 5G.

 

"The diversification trend of 5G applications is inevitable," added Zhou.

 

During the fair, various forums and summits will take place to fully showcase new technologies in digital intelligence to boost innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
