A number of renowned academicians, economists, scientists, and senior executives of leading technology companies in China and abroad attended the 2022 China Hi-Tech Forum, which was held during the 24th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) that commenced in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on Nov 15. 

 

Yu Dapeng, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and dean of the Shenzhen International Quantum Institute, said that quantum computing is the key to the world's technological development.

 

The Shenzhen International Quantum Institute was founded in 2018, and has become a core strategic force of national quantum technology, Yu noted. "The institute is currently preparing to publish research achievements on distributed quantum chips. There are various technological routes, from superconductivity to ion traps. Their advantages and disadvantages are so obvious that no one can tell us exactly which technological route will win out."

 

According to Li Yang, a committee member of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and director general of the National Institution for Finance and Development, the world's industrial structure has changed drastically. The number of high-tech companies accounts for a large portion of the world's top 10 listed companies in 2022. 

 

"In real economy, digitalized technology has transformed the production processes, and the economic structure in a comprehensive way," Li said. In line with the great changes in the structure of the real economy, the financial system has also undergone great changes.

 

"The decline of traditional commercial banks and the dominance of non-bank financial institutions engaged in integrated operations are no doubt unstoppable," Li added. "Financial institutions, platforms, channels, products and markets that are closely integrated with the internet, big data, artificial intelligence and blockchain are more indicative of the future development direction and contain great development potential."
